“Your Future is created by what you do today, not tomorrow”
-Robert Kiyosaki
What I think that this statement means is that you don’t make your future on what you’ll do but on what you are doing. You will succeed but as long as you have a good future.

·       Notice words that are italicized or bold.
·       Look at charts, graphs, pictures, maps, and other visual material
·       Read captions

Tip 5: Keep a list of Questions
When you feel confused about something you’re reading, write down any questions you have. Sometimes your questions are answered as you read further. If not, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Remember, teachers create assignments; they’ve read the texts and are familiar with them. When you have specific questions, your teachers can provide answers that will help you better understand the material. Learning is rooted in questions developed and asked by the learner.

Asking questions to yourself, to the teacher, and to others, is a great learning method. When you crease to ask questions, you crease to exist to a great extent. Read actively by silently asking questions as you read. Questioning immerses you into the material you are reading and therefore will expand you mental capacities more than almost anything else.

The philosopher Sir Francis Bacon said, “Knowledge is power.” Improving your reading comprehension is the key to gaining important knowledge and making the most of your education. So pick up a book ... and a pen.

“When I was teaching basketball, I urged my players to try their hardest to improve on that very day, to make that practice a masterpiece.
-John Wooden
This rule is even more important in life than basketball. You have to apply yourself each day to become a little better. Be applying yourself to the task of becoming a little better each and every day over a period of time, you will become a lot better. Only then will you be able to approach being the best you can be. It begins by trying to make each day count and knowing you can never make up for a lost day.”

Tip 3: Do Research
Literary critics have written vast numbers of analytical and critical pieces on countless books. If you’ve having trouble understanding a particular text, do some research and see what knowledgeable sources have to say about it. In addition to increasing your comprehension, you’ll also be showing initiative, something teachers always like to see. Always use legitimate and scholarly sources, not condensed study guides. Going the extra mile in your research elevates your achievement 10-fold.
Tip 4: Use a dictionary
Make sure you have access to a dictionary when you’re reading. You can often figure out the meaning of an unfamiliar word by using context clues, but sometimes you can’t. Rather than simply skipping over the words you don’t know, take the time to look them up. The results are well worth the effort. Your comprehension will increase greatly, and you’ll build your vocabulary at the same time.

3. Set attainable Goals
If you’re having trouble writing a 25-page paper for class because its seems like such a big job, don’t focus on that final number. Break the paper down and consider each section of your paper individually. You can handle any project in small chunks.
4. Find a Social Support Network
Create a group of people around you who want to help you succeed. Mentors can be teachers or family friends who can give you guidance and help you develop new skills. Counselors can help you with planning your courses and starting to explore colleges. You can also reach out to friends and peers who can motivate you by listening and sharing ideas.
5. Acknowledge Your Accomplishments
Give yourself a quick reward when you complete an assignment or task. Take a walk, send an email get snack. Then move on to the next project.

“The Three Nevers”
Never lie
Never cheat
Never steal
-John Wooden
What I think that this statement means is that you should never do this in your life time. You should always be part of a CTR group than a wrong group. Be a success not a fail. Show that you will never give up but go up and never go backwards.

5 Tips for Staying Motivated
Tips 1-2
To succeed in high school and college, you have to do your best at all times. But sometimes it’s hard to stay motivated, even when you really care about the work you’re doing. Here are five ways to stay on the right track.

1. Focus on high-impact activities

The key to success in school is staying focused on your course work. Make a list to get an overall picture of your work load before you start to tackle any of it. Then, make a plan. Although it’s tempting to do the simplest assignments first, those that make more time and effort to accomplish are probably the ones that you’ll learn the most from.

To determine what your priorities are, rank your assignments in their order of importance. Then rearrange your time and devote more energy toward those that have the greater impact on your course work and grades. For example, even though all homework assignments are important, studying for a midterm exam takes priority over writing a paragraph for an English class. As you complete each task, think of it as another step on your way to college success.

2. Create new challenges

Changing your approach can help you stay interested in what you’re doing. If you’ve been given an assignment similar to one you’ve done in the past, think about it in a different way. If you wrote an essay for a creative writing assignment last year try a poem this time. For book reports, pick a history book, instead of another biography.

“You have only always to do what is right. It will become easier by practice, and enjoy in the midst of your trials the pleasure of an approving conscience.”
What I think that this statement means is that you will always have to CTR no matter where you are at. Find a better way to succeed than by going through the wrong path way.

Take Control of Homework
So it doesn’t control you
Part 3
Take Advantage of Any Free Time
If you have a study period or a long bus ride, use the time to review notes, prepare for an upcoming class or start your homework. Flash cards are a great learning tool.  They are easy to make, easy to handle, and are a marvelous tool to help you learn and remember anything. Punch a hole in the upper left corner of each index card and connect the stack of your flash cards with a ring. Then the cards are bound and not flopping around.   Flash cards bound like this act like a small book with pages you can even have a separate ringed stack for each subject. WHATEVER YOU WANT TO REMEMBER PUT IT ON A CARD.

Study with a friend

Get together with friends and classmates to quiz each other, compare notes and predict test questions. Consider joying a study group.

Communicate

If you have con concerns about the amount or type of homework you have you might want to talk to your family, teachers or counselors. They can help you understand how much time you need to allot for homework and how to manage your task.

Celebrate your achievement

“Be always sure your right, then go ahead.”

-Davy Crockett
What I think that this statement means is that be careful and surely sure that you know what you are doing is right then its okay for you to go ahead. But if you don’t know what you are doing then it all depends on you.

Take Control of Homework
So it doesn’t Control You
Part 2
Keep things in Perspective
Know how much weight each assignment or test carries, and use your time accordingly. Don’t waste time, but be wise and smart. Doing the most important things first is being wise and smart.
Get More Involved
Keep your mind from wondering by taking notes, underlining sections, discussing topics with others or relating your homework to something you’re studying in another class. Learn actively and not passively. Be anxiously engaged in your studies and you will have a great experience. Dominate a good attitude toward home assignments, and you will begin to love doing it.

Organize the information

People process information in different ways. Some people like to draw pictures or charts to digest information, others prefer to read out loud or make detailed outlines. Try to find the methods that work best for you. Ask your teacher for recommendations if you’re having trouble.

Take Control of Homework
So it doesn’t Control You
Part 1
Although very few students love homework, it does serve a purpose. Homework helps you:
·       Reinforce what you’ve learned during the day.
·       Build study habits that are essential in college.
·       Prepare for you classes
·       Get in sense of progress
Here are some tips to help you deal with homework more efficiently
Set the Mood
Create a good study area with everything you need (for example, a calculator). If you don’t have a quiet place at home, try your school or local library.
Know Where to Begin
Make a list of everything you need to do, and note all deadlines. Do the more difficult assignments first, so you don’t have to face them at the end.
Study at the Same Time Every Day
Even if you don’t have homework every night, use the time to review notes. If sitting down to work is part of your normal routine, you’ll approach it with less dread. Also, you’ll become a pro at using time productively.

“I think it better to do right, even if we suffer in so doing, than to incur the reproach of our consciences and posterity.”
-Robert E. Lee
What I think that this statement means is that you would suffer from being what they make you in the right path. There will never be something that is easily and positive without work.

Note-Taking Strategies
Part 4
For Review
Once you’ve done all of the above, you’ll find you’ve created your own personalized study guide. Cover the main section of the page and use the key words and questions in the left margin as a quiz.
Stick to it

Review your notes the day you take them and all your notes once a week. That way, you won’t need to study as much as when its test time.

You’ve been doing all the work alone

Try out the cornel system, but if it doesn’t work out for you, experiment with other methods. Ask your class mate how they take notes or ask a teacher for advice. Taking god notes requires practice, like any other skill. And the more you work at it now, the more prepared you’ll be to take notes in college.

A basketball player from Garfield Heights High School was prisoned for 3 years. He was prisoned for kidnapping his girlfriend and assaulting. He went from Playing Court to Federal Government Court.
Reflection: He totally choose the wrong. He changed just in moments his courts. Good to Bad court. HE had no heart to do but now is facing his consequences.

Part 3
After class
As soon as class ends, review your notes and fill in any blanks. Underline, highlights and use symbols to sort through the information, if you don’t understand something, get help from your teacher or classmates.

After you’ve reviewed all your notes from class, in the left-hand area of the page write down key words and questions your teacher might ask on a test.

At the bottom of each page, write a summary of the notes. This helps you digest what you’ve learned. It also improves you r memory of the material for the long term and for test down the road.

Love

Love
Love is hard to find and hard to lose. You will always be those times you get hurt when you know that they don’t feel the same way. You may have been hurt by that love person but you always find that other person that you bring their hopes down.  Even though you may have been hurt try your best not to face down but instead look up and see what you can do. Say I love you when you don't mean it with all you heart.

“He listens well who takes notes.”
-Dante Alighieri
What I think that this stamen means is that you always find yourself in a better place when you fresh back your memories. You always get to see what you think that they will do and see what they are good in today’s life. Notes may take up time and paper but there made for some reason and that reason is that it helps you improve your knowledge.

Note-Taking Strategies
Part 2
During Class
One approach that has been proven effective is called the Cornell Note-Taking System. Here are some of its methods.
Start by using the main section of your page to take down your notes during class. Be sure to leave space on the left side of the page and the bottom. Things to keep in mind:
1.   Get the speaker’s main points. Don’t write down every word you hear.
2.   Leave blanks in your notes to add explanations later.
3.   Organize as you write. Pay attention to cues such as repetition and emphasis.
4.   Indicate main and supporting points as you go.
5.   Jot down key vocabulary, important facts and formulas.
6.   Ask questions. If you’re confused, it’s better to ask while the material is fresh in your mind.

Distance Education: Is a Virtual Classroom for You?
Part 4 of 4
Emphasis on the Written Word
Most of the communications, as well as the course work, in the distance learning class is written. That’s a plus, because the focused on the written word gives you the opportunity to develop as a writer and strong writing skills are essential to academic success. However, if writing is a serious weakness for you, virtual learning may not be the best educational option for you until you improve your skills. Yes, most of distance education is the written word; therefore, you need to be a good reader, love to read, and love writing also. Most of your assignments will be written and submitted to the instructor in the written format. Your penmanship needs to be excellent, spelling great, sentence structure above average, vocabulary extraordinary. You need to have online access with reliable equipment. If your internet communications at home isn’t working, you can’t do online education from home and will need to go to someplace where you do have access to the internet.

Decide whether it is right for you

Distance education isn’t for everyone, but it just might be for you. You really should seek it out and give it a try. You never know until you try. You might even fall in love with distance education. While distance education may be the perfect alternative for some students, it’s not the right choice for everyone. So carefully consider your unique needs and interest and give distance education a try: then, decide if it is right for you.

“You must live in the present to secure your future.”
-Reverend Robert Craig
What I think that this statement means is that it all depends on how you do your present for you future to be the same steps as the following comes to you. Never let that person be who you are to mess up your future or present because that is CTW.

Distance Education: Is a Virtual Classroom for You?
Part 3
Challenging Aspects of Distance Education
·       Lock of in-person interaction: Some educators argue that both teacher-student and student-student contact are essential to learning. In distance-learning classroom, you may be able to participate in class discussions online in chat rooms, message boards or Web conferences –but it’s not the same as being with other students in a classroom.
·       Different levels of quality: Many distances –education programs supply an excellent learning experience, but others may not. Research any program before signing on to make sure it’s rigorous enough. If you are choosing your own program, look into its accreditation before enrolling.
·       The need to self-start: Distance education lets you make your own schedules. If you have a hard time getting motivated, this might not be the ideal educational setting for you.

Part 2
Positive Aspects of Distance Education
·       Independence and time management: taking courses online lets you
hone your ability to work on your own. You also gain experience in
managing your time efficiently.
·       A flexible schedule: schools can only provide a certain number of
class periods in a single school day, and there may not be enough
time for you to take everything you want. Because distance
education lets you take classes outside regular school hours, it gives
you the flexibility to explore all your areas of interest.
·       Advanced and specialized classes: some schools can’t provide
advanced or specialized classes: distance education gives you the
chance to gain experience in areas that world otherwise remain out
of reach.

Gold medal-winning racewalker Alex Schwazer was the first walker to come in at the London Olympics after 3 hours and 37 minutes. Shortly after that he was found using drugs to make him run faster, he was doping his blood. When the authorities found out he was band from the Olympics and he was proud of it because he said that without getting caught he would have still been using drugs. Every other weight is lighter than the heavy weight that he had inside.

Reflection: I think that this situation is a very sad situation because some who has made it so fair into the Olympics had to give away his medal because he or she was under the impression of drugs. He had an option and he choose the wrong one. I think this was a very wrong thing to do when you are at the Olympics. You won’t get away like he did.
