Student Success

Statement

“We need the courage to start and continue what we should do, and the courage to stop what we shouldn’t do.”

What I think that this statement means is that it all depends on the feelings and courage that we have to continue the rest of our lives. This also means is that we don’t need courage to do stupid things that no one needs.

Student Responsibilities

(Part 3)

What is important to you is that you, as you start to reach milestones in your ambitions, you appreciate your own achievements. It is a boost, done to, but appreciating yourself will strengthen your self-belief, and reinforce your determination to succeed.

Some of the key characteristics you will find in those who are successful are perseverance, prepa5red to research, plan and work hard, practice a lot even when things do not seem to be going well, and and ability to recover and learn from setbacks. At the outset of whatever it is you are trying 45set of whatever it is you are trying to succeed in, a strong vision of your future, planning, and setting yourself achievable targets can all play important role.

If you feel you don’t naturally have all those characteristics, then do not despair. Each of them can be accomplished by your own application. You can use mediation and visualization techniques to initiate your vision, and they can certainly be learnt both for that purpose and for each step you take to reach your goals. Settings goals and objectives can be a personal or business technique that can be learnt. You can develop inner strength to succeed if you apple yourself to doing just that; that will enable you to recover from seatbacks more easily.

Students: These are YOUR responsibilities!

“The importance of Good Sportsmanship”

The importance of good sportsmanship is that you succeed at a good time that you know that you can defend yourself from anyone.  Also the importance is that you need to choose the right. You can also help others that actually need your help and may choose the same way you’re going and help others later on to be a successful person. You can help those in need and make a difference in the world and people will later on thank you for helping them be a better person.  If you don’t show good sportsmanship than you’re not a good example. You are also not worth living here because you’re not a person that we need. So that is the importance of good sportsmanship.

To show good sportsmanship:

·       Choose the Right

·       Be the leader not a follower

·       Be yourself

·      Don’t let anyone punk on  you

“Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom”
-George Washington Carver
What I think that this statement means is that education determines everything because if you don’t study then you don’t get a good job. But if you do then you end in a place that you will enjoy. This is what I think that this statement means.

Student Responsibilities
Part 1
Students have the right to seize the responsibility for their own destiny and should be encouraged to do so. With every right comes responsibility!
1.    I have the responsibility to come to every class prepared to listen, to participate, and to learn.
2.    I have the responsibility to read the text carefully, nothing important ideas and rephrasing concepts in my works.
3.    I have the responsibility to work examples in the textbook and those given in class.
4.    I have the responsibility to consult other students, the teachers, an assistant, and other students, the teacher, an assistant, and other resources whenever I need the extra help.
5.    I have the responsibility to understand that the teacher is not primarily responsible for making me understand, but that it is my job to study and to learn.
6.     I have the responsibility of keeping an open mind and trying to comprehend what the teacher is trying to get across.

Successful Students Part 3
7. Successful students understand that actions affect learning successful students know their personal behavior affecting learning.
If you act in certain way that normally procedures particular feelings, you will begin to experience those feelings. Act like you’re not bored and you’ll become bored. Act like you are disinterested and you’ll become disinterested. SO the next time you have trouble concentrating in the classroom, act like an interested person: lean forward, place your feet flat on the floor, maintain eye contact with the professor, nod occasionally, take notes, and ask question.  Not only will you benefit directly from your actions, your classmates and professor may also get more excited and enthusiastic.
8. Successful Students talk about what they’re learning. Successful students get to know something well enough that they can put it into words     .
9. Successful students don’t cram for exams. Successful students know that divided periods of study are more effective.

 Student Success Statement
My basic principle is that you don’t make decisions because they are easy: you don’t make them because they are cheap: you don’t make them because they are popular; you make them because they’re right”
This quote means is that you don’t make the decisions but you do what you think that is right. You are who you are and you will choose for yourself.

“Decisions Determine Destiny”
-       Thomas S. Monson
What I think that this statement means is that decisions do determined destiny because if you chose the wrong you have a wrong destiny if you choose the right you have a right destiny. But no one will change it unless you decide to. So yes that statement is true and those are my thoughts on that quote.

Successful Students
                               Part 2
      4. Successful Students learn that a student and a teacher make a team. Most teachers want exactly what you want; they would like for you to learn the material in their respective classes and earn a good grade.
Successful students reflect well on the efforts of any teacher; if you have learned your material, the instructor takes some justifiable pride in teaching. Join forces with your instructor, they are not an enemy, you share the same interests, the same goals- in short, and you’re teammates. Get to know your professor. You’re the most valuable players on the same team. Your jobs are to work together for mutual success. Neither wishes to chalk up a losing season. Be a team player!
5. Successful students don’t sit in the back. Successful students minimize classroom distractions that interfere with learning. Students want the best seat available for their entertainment dollars, but willingly seek the worst seat for their educational dollars

Successful Students
                                   Part 1
Successful students exhibit a combination of successful attitudes and behaviors as well as intellectual capacity. Successful students
1.      Successful students are responsible and active. Successful students get involved in their studies, accept responsibility for their own education, and are active participants in it!
Responsibility means control. It’s the difference leading and being led. Your own efforts control your grade, you earn the glory or deserve the blame, and you make the choice. Active classroom participation improves grades without increasing study time. You can sit there, act bored, daydream, or sleep. Or, can you actively listen, think, question and take notes like someone in charge of their learning experience. Either option costs one class period. However, the former method will require a large degree of additional work outside of class to achieve the same degree of learning the latter provides at one sitting. The choice is yours.
2.     Successful students have educational goals. Successful students have legitimate goals and are motivated by what they represent in terms of career aspirations and life’s desires.

Student Success Statement!
“Great beauty, great strength, and great riches are really and truly of no great use; a right heart exceeds all.”
                                            -Benjamin Franklin
What I think that this statement means is that no matter what you try to do its not going work out because the heart is what matters and take you anywhere. What I also think that these means is that you don’t live a life unless you have the heart and with the heart can accomplish anything.

Characteristics of a Successful Student
                     http://academic.cuesta.edu/acasaupp/as/201.HTM
Many students do not know what it takes to be successful in the educational environment. They understand good and bad grades in a general way, and they sense that they should attend classes, but that is where their knowledge begins and ends.
Most instructors know what a good student is-and is not. For one thing, a good student is not necessarily the most intelligent individual in the class.
The following is a list of some characteristics of good students. This list a description of what a hard-working student does and what a teacher likes to see. By learning these characteristics, you may better understand the day-to-day and class-to-class behavior of successful students. The idea is to provide you with guidelines you can follow which will help you get down to the business of becoming a serious, successful student.
1.     Successful students attend classes regularly. They are on time. They listen and train themselves to pay attention. If they miss a session, they fell obligated

Student Success Statement
“Goals determine what you are going to be.”
         -Julius Erving
What I think that this quote means is that it all depends on what you do and what you are trying to succeed on. What I also think is that you set a goal when you are interested in and trying to accomplish it like when you think that you are good at it. What I also think that this means is that if you don’t accomplish any goals you won’t know what you are going to be.

Student Success Statement Right is Right, even if everyone is against it. Wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it”
                 -William Penn
What I think this quote means is that even though everyone is against it is still RIGHT! What I also think that this means is that no one can change what is right or wrong if it’s wrong its wrong and if its right its right easy as that.

50 Habits of Successful People
                    Habits 44-47
44. They don’t rationalize failure. While many are talking about their age, their poor genetics, their ‘bad luck’, their nasty boss and their lack of opportunities (all good reasons to fail), they are finding a way to succeed despite all their challenges.
45.  They have an off switch. They know how to relax, enjoy what they in their life and have fun.
46. Their career is not their identity, it’s their job. It’s not who they are, it’s what they do.

Student Success Statement
“It may make a difference to all eternity whether we do right or wrong today.”                                  James Freeman Clark
This statement means that what you do is your decision. No one would actually care on what you do. It doesn’t affect others but yourself.

Play of the Day- Selfless Young Fan
The reflection of the movie clip was than Nicholas gave up his ball and gave it to Ian to who was upset because he did not have the ball. Nicholas got rewarded with a baseball bat that had signed it by Nicholas favorite player and a contract of 4 game tickets. Ian and Nicholas both won something and get rewarded. So that is what you get when you choose the right.

42. They are more comfortable with their own company than most.
43. They set higher standards for themselves (a choice we can all make) which in turn

“It’s not living that matters, but living rightly.”
What I think this quote means is that yes your young once but, it doesn’t mean that you have to mess it up right away. What I also think that this means is that what’s the point of living if you are locked up in jail might as well give up your life because you are not living a right life. So this is what I think that this quote means.

    50 Habits of Successful People
                                                      Habits (31-35)
31. They are secure. They do not derive their sense of worth of self from what they own, who they know, where they live or what they looks like.
32. They are generous and kind. They take pleasure in helping others achieve.
33. They are humble and they are happy to admit mistakes and to apologize. They are confident in their ability, but not arrogant. They are happy to learn from others. They are happy to make others look good rather than seek their own personal glory.
34. They are adaptable and embrace change, while the majority are creatures of comfort and habit. They are comfortable with, and embrace, the new and the unfamiliar.
35. They keep themselves in shape physically, not to be mistakes with training for the Olympics or being obsessed with their body. They understand the importance of being physically well. “You are accountable for YOUR choices”

-Thomas S. Monson

What I think this means is that no one can make your decision but yourself.  What I also I think is that if I make a decision can change my choice but myself because I believe that choice is right and no one will prove me wrong.  This is what the quote means to me.

50Habits of Successful People

         (Habits 21-30)

21. They don’t believe on, or wait for fate, destiny, chance or luck to determine or shape their future. They believe in, and are committed to actively and consciously creating their own life.

22. While many people are reactive, they are proactive. They take action before they have to.

23. They are more effective than most at managing their emotions. They feel like we all do but they are not slaves to their emotions.

24. They are good communicators and they consciously work at it.

25. They have a plan for their life and they work methodically at turning that plan into a reality. Their life is not a clumsy series of unplanned events and outcomes.

26. Their desire to be exceptional means that they typically do things that most won’t. They become exceptionally by choice. We’re all faced with life-shaping decisions almost daily. Successful people make the decision that most wont and don’t.

27. While many people are pleasure junkies and avoid pain and discomfort at all costs, successful people understand the value and benefits of working through the tough stuff that must would avoid.

28. They have identified their core values (what is important to them) and they do their best to live a life which is reflective of those values.

29. They have balance. While they are financially successful, they know that the terms money and success are not interchangeable. They understand that people, who are successful on a financial level only, are not successful at all. Unfortunately we live in a society which teaches that money equals success. Like many other things, money is a tool. It’s certainly not a bad thing but ultimately: it’s just another resource. Unfortunately, too many people worship it.

30. They understand the importance of discipline and self-control. They are strong. They are happy to take the road less traveled.

Student Success Statement

Ask yourself is it right or wrong and act accordingly.”

                   - Otto Graham Jr.

This statement means that when you ask yourself that if what you are doing is right or not. It means that if you choose the wrong then you do it but not acting for it to come up with consequences that you wish not to have and know that you are going to be very hurt. Then you must act right according to what you are doing. You must always be positive and now what that its right.

“Doing what is right, fair, and honorable is more important than winning or losing.”     -Chick Mooman

I think this quote means as long as you’re honest or if you do what is right it doesn’t matter if you win or lose.  I also think this means that it don’t matter what happen if you lose or win because you tried your best and gave all that you had and not going to give more event though you now that you can’t give that. So this is my reflection for this quote.

                                           Keys to Successful Living

                                                                        Part 4

                                                                                        (Anon)

What is personality? The word “Personality” comes from the root persona, which means “mask.” Our personality is a mask that we wear. We don’t have to wear a mask when we are by ourselves; we wear a mask to express ourselves to others. Our personality is a character, and that character is composed of certain habits; so when we want to understand our personality, we should understand our personality, we should understand our habit patterns. A habit pattern is a conscious habit. All habits patterns are self-created. When we sit down and try to understand which of our habits control our life, we see that there are many deep-rooted habits within us.

Choose habits that will mold your personality into a super successful student and person.

                          Student Success Statement

“No man will ever be totally free who is living a lie”

                                                                  Marvin J. Ashton

This statement means that you are not living a life because they are just making things up and your life is not made up it’s the way you make it. This also means that no man is living because they have something in life that they care about and they want to live for it.

Keys to Successful Living

                                                                            Part 3 Anon

We should understand our capacities and potentials, and then we should express ourselves in the external world with full confidence, acting steps without any reservations. Thus there are there in performing an action: first, forming an opinion to others: and third, executing our opinion in action.

Understanding habit patterns

The main thing that one should learn in life – and it is not taught in the honor or in the schools – is self-analysis. We should learn to analyze ourselves. If we really want to understand ourselves, we can analyze our personality by understanding our habit patterns. This is not difficult. We should simply try to be consciously aware of every action we perform and realize that our actions are virtually our thoughts. Without thought there can be no action. Habit patterns and thoughts are related through behavior.
